A close-cropped pattern of oversized poppies and Iceland poppies in cream, soft blue, warm peach, true coral, and dusty rose, set against a deep teal-petrol ground. The flowers are scaled large enough that two or three blooms fill any visible passage, with their slender greenish-brown stems running vertically through the composition and small unopened buds capping the upper register. The petal interiors are rendered with confident parallel-line brushwork that fans outward from saturated golden-orange centers.
The palette is unusual and confident — cool blues and warm corals coexisting on the same teal ground, with cream and pale peach acting as bridges between the two temperature registers. The teal ground is deep enough to read almost as midnight at distance, but it has subtle painted variation that prevents it from going flat. Every poppy has a slightly different value within its color family — pale blue against true blue, warm peach against deep coral — which gives the cluster genuine variety despite the limited palette.
This paper performs in rooms that want both saturation and softness. A primary bedroom with warm wood furniture, a small dining room with brass picture lights, a sitting room with cream upholstery, a powder room with a marble washstand. Pair it with creamy painted millwork, oxidized brass, oxblood velvet, and ceramics in white and matte black. The teal anchors the room toward cool, but the warm coral and peach prevent it from going cold. Best in rooms with warm lamplight in the evening, where the corals glow and the teal deepens toward midnight.
