Answers to the questions we see most often about samples, panels, roll sizing, shipping, installation, returns, and troubleshooting.
Materials & Sizing
What types of wallpaper do you offer?
Peel & Stick is a removable, repositionable vinyl free film with a low tack adhesive. It is renter friendly when installed on sound, fully cured paint.
Pre-Pasted Non Woven has adhesive built into the backing that activates with clean water. It is a great option for DIYers who want a softer, paper like feel.
Traditional Non Woven is a paste the wall material that many professional installers prefer for long term projects and commercial spaces.
What are your standard roll specifications?
Most patterns are printed at 24 inches wide. Rolls are offered in lengths such as 13 feet and 27 feet. The product page for each design lists the exact width, length, and square footage coverage.
If you are comparing panel pricing to roll pricing, remember that panels are measured in inches and rolls are measured in feet. A 24 by 24 panel is one square foot section, while a 24 inch by 27 foot roll covers much more area.
What is the difference between a sample, a 24 x 24 panel, and a roll?
Standard samples are about 8 by 10 inches. They are meant for checking color, paper texture, and print quality in your lighting. Artwork on samples is intentionally cropped and not shown at full repeat scale.
24 by 24 panels show the pattern at true repeat size so you can see scale on your wall. They are a fast way to decide if the motif size is right before you commit to full rolls.
Rolls are what you will install on your wall. Always use the roll length and width listed on the product page when calculating coverage so you do not under order.
Why does my sample look different from the room photos or panels?
Room photos on the site are styled for inspiration and may show the pattern zoomed in or out compared to the true repeat. Samples prioritize showing a range of color and detail, not the full repeat.
For an accurate sense of scale on your wall, use the scale slider on the product page and add a 24 by 24 panel. This combination removes surprises when your rolls arrive.
Ordering & Roll Counts
How do I calculate how many rolls I need?
Use the calculator on each product page as a starting point. It factors in roll width, length, and a standard allowance for pattern matching.
If you prefer a human check, share your wall width and height, plus any windows or doors, and our team can confirm a recommended roll count. When in doubt, ordering an extra roll is often less expensive than paying for rush shipping later.
Should I order everything at once or can I add more later?
We strongly recommend ordering all rolls for a project in a single order so everything is printed in the same batch. Like paint, small color shifts can happen between batches. Keeping the project in one run gives you the most seamless result.
Can you guarantee an exact match to photos or to my monitor?
Screens vary in brightness and color calibration. Room photos are also shot in specific lighting conditions. The most reliable way to confirm color is to view a physical sample or 24 by 24 panel in your space, next to your paint and finishes, before ordering rolls.
Do you reimburse painters or installers if something does not work out?
No. Our responsibility is limited to the wallpaper material itself. We do not cover third party costs such as labor, travel, or repainting.
To protect your project, wait until your order arrives, inspect every roll, and test a small area before booking or confirming installer time.
Production, Shipping & Tracking
Where is your wallpaper produced and shipped from?
All patterns are designed in the United States and printed to order at our facility in Europe. We use high resolution equipment, eco certified inks, and premium substrates that meet the quality bar we want for Canvas & Ivy.
Orders ship directly from this facility to you. This allows consistent quality and reduces waste from overprinting.
How long do production and shipping usually take?
For most locations, door to door timelines are about 7 to 12 business days. This includes printing, quality checks, packing, export, and final delivery with the carrier shown at checkout.
During holiday peaks or large campaigns, transit can shift by a few days. If you have a firm deadline, reach out before ordering so we can advise whether the date is realistic.
Why does my tracking show only European hubs or long gaps between scans?
International shipments often move through several hubs that are not scanned in a way customers can see. It is common to see the parcel sit at a European hub or a single status for a few days while it clears carrier backlogs.
If there has been no movement for more than three business days, contact us with your tracking number. We will open an investigation and, if the carrier confirms loss, arrange a replacement shipment.
My tracking says delivered, but I cannot find the package. What should I do?
Start by checking porches, side doors, mail rooms, and with neighbors or building staff. Carriers sometimes mark items delivered a short time before the driver reaches you.
If the parcel has not shown up by the next business day, contact us and the carrier so we can help file a claim. Claims must be filed promptly for the carrier to investigate.
Installation & Troubleshooting
How should I prep my walls before installing wallpaper?
Start with walls that are smooth, clean, and fully dry. Fill holes, sand repairs, and remove dust. Wipe down with a clean, lint free cloth.
For Peel & Stick, a quality primer or paint with a smooth finish helps the adhesive bond correctly. Avoid chalky, flat, or heavily textured surfaces when possible.
Fresh paint should cure for about 30 days before installation. Installing over uncured paint can trap moisture and cause bubbles or poor adhesion.
Will Peel & Stick work on textured walls like orange peel or knockdown?
Light texture can sometimes work with firm squeegee pressure, but texture always reduces contact between the adhesive and the wall. Heavier textures can show through patterns and make seams more visible.
For the most reliable result, many customers choose to skim coat or use a liner paper on heavily textured walls before installing any wallpaper.
My Peel & Stick is lifting, bubbling, or not sticking. Is it defective?
Peel & Stick adhesive is highly sensitive to the surface it is applied to. Issues like edges lifting, sections that feel loose, or bubbles that do not smooth out are almost always related to wall conditions rather than a print defect.
Common causes include uncured paint, residue from previous coatings, micro dust on the wall, certain stain blocking primers, low surface temperatures, and moderate to heavy texture. Even professional installers can run into these conditions.
If you have concerns, stop installing and contact us with clear photos of the wall, the back of the material, and the trouble spots so we can help you troubleshoot next steps.
The pattern does not look aligned at the ceiling or around fixtures. What should I know?
Our patterns are designed to repeat seamlessly. Visually, every wall is a little different. Ceilings and corners are often not perfectly level, which can make a perfectly plumb installation appear slightly off at the top or bottom in places.
Professional installers typically start from a plumb line in the most visible area and work out, trimming at ceilings and baseboards so the pattern reads straight where the eye lands first.
Is your wallpaper safe for bathrooms and kitchens?
Our materials perform well in powder rooms and ventilated bathrooms when installed outside of direct, constant water. Avoid installing inside showers or behind open sinks where water can sit on seams.
Use an exhaust fan during and after showers to manage humidity. Wipe splashes promptly so seams do not stay wet.
Will Peel & Stick damage my walls when I remove it later?
On sound, properly primed, fully cured paint, Peel & Stick is designed to remove cleanly. To take it down, pull slowly at about a 45 degree angle. If the paint underneath is very old or already failing, it can sometimes lift with the film.
Any paint lifting is a substrate issue rather than a failure of the adhesive. If you are renting, you may want to test a small inconspicuous area first.
Color, Batches & Defects
Will colors match between my sample, panel, and full rolls?
We calibrate our printers carefully and keep tight tolerances across materials. Slight differences can happen from batch to batch or between substrates. For the closest match, order your rolls within a short time of sampling so everything is produced with the same settings.
Keep one labeled offcut somewhere safe. If you ever need more in the future, that piece helps us reference your original batch.
What should I do if I believe there is a printing defect or damage in transit?
Inspect your order before you start installing. If you see anything concerning, stop and reach out before cutting or hanging additional panels.
Please send clear photos of the shipping label, the outer box if damaged, and the specific area on the roll. This lets us determine quickly whether the issue is carrier related or a rare print defect so we can take appropriate action.
Returns, Store Credit & Changes
What is your returns and refunds policy for made to order wallpaper?
Because every roll is printed to order, all sales are final once an order is processed. We do not offer cash or card refunds for change of mind, color surprises, or ordering the wrong material or quantity.
When a return is approved as an exception, it is issued as store credit only on unopened, unused rolls, minus a 25 percent processing fee calculated from the original merchandise subtotal. Shipping is non refundable.
To be eligible, rolls must be in their original sealed packaging and the return must be requested within the timeframe listed on our full policy. Installed or cut material cannot be returned.
Can I cancel or change my order after placing it?
Our orders move into production quickly. If you need to adjust a material type, pattern, or quantity, contact us as soon as possible with your order number and requested change.
Once printing has started, we are typically unable to modify or cancel the order.
What if the color or scale feels different in my room than I imagined?
Lighting, wall color, and furnishings all affect how a pattern reads in real life. For that reason, we strongly encourage using a sample plus a 24 by 24 panel before ordering rolls if color or scale are critical.
Orders that match the approved sample and product specifications are not considered defective if they feel different once installed.
Trade & Commercial
Is your wallpaper suitable for commercial projects like boutiques, offices, or hospitality spaces?
Yes, many designers use Canvas & Ivy for commercial walls that do not take heavy abuse. For high traffic corridors, behind seating, or areas with frequent contact, we recommend Traditional Non Woven installed by a professional, or specialty materials such as Type II vinyl when appropriate.
Do you offer custom scaling, color adjustments, or material changes for projects?
Many designs can be adjusted in scale or tuned slightly in color. Some can also be printed on alternate materials for specific project needs. Share elevations, wall sizes, and any inspiration images so we can confirm what is possible along with pricing and lead time.
Do you have a directory of recommended installers?
We maintain a growing list of installers in many US cities. If you do not see your location mentioned anywhere on the site yet, reach out with your zip code and project timing so we can share any nearby names or guidance.
