Burgundy and ivory lilies sprawl across a cracked plaster-cream ground, with curling bronze stems and dried foliage threading between. The flowers carry visible directional brushwork — petals rendered in long pulls of color from base to tip — and the palette is held to three deep tones: oxblood, parchment cream, and aged gold. The ground itself shows fine fissure lines, suggesting age and the patina of an old fresco wall. The composition leans painterly rather than diagrammatic. Stems curl in unpredictable directions, leaves wilt and bend, buds appear partially open. There's a deliberate sense of decay in the rendering — the lilies are caught at the moment just past their peak, which gives the design real emotional weight. The bronze and tan stems add structural rhythm without competing with the blooms.A confident choice for rooms that want gravitas: a paneled library, a wine room, a primary suite with antique furniture, a powder room with carved millwork. Works in Tuscan-influenced architecture, old farmhouses, and any space that calls for the mood of a Dutch still life. Pairs with carved walnut, faded oriental rugs, oxblood velvet, and aged brass. Looks particularly handsome under candlelight or warm low-wattage lamps.
