An oil-painted floral at near-mural scale, dense to the edges, set against a deep mulberry-aubergine ground. Dahlias and chrysanthemums in shocking magenta, deep violet, and pale buttery cream cluster across the wall, intercut with small black-eyed anemones and round eucalyptus stems in pale silver-green. The paint application is heavy and visible — palette knife passages on the highlights, deep impasto at the petal edges, and visible brushwork in the leaves.
The depth in the paper is unusual. Pinks and purples push forward; eucalyptus pulls back into shadow; the mulberry ground recedes further still, giving the composition genuine three-dimensional quality. Cream blooms and yellow floral centers act as visual sparks against the saturation. The blacks at the centers of the anemones are true black — not painted dark — which provides graphic anchoring and keeps the saturation from going syrupy.
This is paper for rooms that commit to atmosphere. A primary bedroom papered to the ceiling, a dining room with dark wood, a small powder room behind a velvet curtain, a backbar in a home cocktail lounge. Pair it with brass picture lights, polished bronze, deep violet velvet upholstery, and silver-leaf accents. Under warm lamplight the magenta glows and the eucalyptus reads almost cool blue; under cool daylight the wine ground deepens toward black and the pattern reads more theatrical. Avoid soft white linens — this paper wants saturated companions.
