A near-black indigo ground carries a vertical, repeating folk motif of stylized tulips with coral-and-cream petals, broad ochre leaves, and curling pale-blue tendrils that scroll between each bloom. White daisy clusters sit at the top of each repeat unit, and small ornamental dot-clusters punctuate the field. The drawing is loose and brushy, with visible stroke marks giving each element a hand-painted authenticity.
Scale is medium and the vertical rhythm is strong — the eye reads upward through stem, leaf, bloom, daisy. Mood is Swedish farmhouse painted in by a confident folk hand, with just enough irregularity in the brushwork to keep it from feeling industrial.
Belongs in a small bedroom, a breakfast nook, a back hall, or a powder room with painted wainscoting. Pairs with painted-wood furniture in soft blue or cream, ironstone, woven rag rugs, and simple cotton curtains. The dark ground reads moodier than indigo and warmer than true black; it flatters skin tones and works well in mirrored spaces. Best with warm directional lighting — cool overhead light flattens the brushwork into a uniform dark mass.
